My Approach
How I help your baby SleeP
Using my extensive knowledge of sleep science and what is developmentally appropriate for your baby, I help identify patterns, behaviours and external factors that may be contributing to baby sleep problems. I will then work with you to develop a tailored plan, including practical tools and techniques focused on improving sleep for your baby, which will benefit the whole family.
A gentle approach to baby sleep training
As I work holistically, my approach is very gentle and supportive of the child. It is based on supporting the child to learn to sleep on their own whilst respecting their developmental needs and without using any methods involving “controlled crying” or “rapid return”.
Instead I am here to provide an alternative narrative to the mainstream cry-it-out or controlled crying narrative.
All babies are individual
Very rarely is there only one reason why your little one won’t sleep which is why I always endeavour to find a bespoke plan for you and your family that takes into consideration the fact that your little one’s needs are not only physical but also psychological, emotional and relational.
Flexible to suit your needs
I offer a range of services to help families including one-hour trouble-shooting calls for an individual sleep issue, in-person service (location dependent) with 4 weeks of follow up support and group sleep workshops. I am also active on social media where I provide regular sleep tips for babies and infants – useful for browsing during those twilight hours.
Integrative Care
I work closely with a network of trusted specialists including lactation consultants, nutritional therapists, and osteopaths. If I identify anything that might be affecting your baby’s sleep (like reflux, tongue tie, or breathing concerns), I’ll help you get the right support. Sometimes improving sleep means first addressing an underlying issue you didn’t even know was there.
“We were at a real low point with sleep and everything that was suggested really empowered us in our parenting. It’s as if deep down we already knew it but we needed someone else to say it’s ok to try this/do this. Emma went above and beyond for us with the service she provided.”

FAQ
Will my baby cry?
I can guarantee you that I don’t suggest you leave your baby to cry at any stage during the plan.
However, it is important to recognise that all babies are different and have different temperaments. Some will be able to accept change easier than others.
It is really important to bear in mind, that if your baby does cry at any stage throughout the process, the very fact that you will be there with them supporting them the whole way means you are playing a crucial role in helping your baby begin their journey of learning to self-regulate.
You are working with your child to help give them the skills to deal with stress and upset later in their lives.
Crying in your presence is actually very important for a baby’s development as by crying you are allowing them to communicate their feelings and emotions.
It is only by listening to your baby when they are upset that you will then be in a much better place to help them while you further your sleep work.
Additionally, I will of course give you the tools and skills to support yourselves while helping to soothe your baby and minimise the crying.
How long until I see improvements?
Each family’s sleep situation is very different so it can hugely depend, but I like to say that when we start off by focusing on implementing quick sleep wins most families can expect to see an improvement within 10 days to 2 weeks.
The key will be going at your child’s pace and ensuring you are consistent in what you do. I also find that with the families I work with those that keep in touch with me regularly tend to have the most success.
Some families of course will see big improvements much quicker and for some it will take a lot longer.
Can you guarantee it will work?
Although I would love to say categorically 100% yes, the truth is that while all my methods are tried and tested and work for 98% of the families I work with (where they are able to give it the time it may need), there will be some cases when you don’t end up at your ultimate sleep goal, or where it takes longer than you are hoping for.
What I can promise is:
- I won’t suggest we work together unless I genuinely believe I can help improve your situation.
- I will help you identify in advance of implementing your sleep plan if there is anything up front such as reflux, allergies, illness, weight that might affect your sleep plan.
- If I feel that there is something that I am not qualified to help you with I will endeavour to refer you to someone who can
What do I believe?
I truly believe that the only way to truly support babies, children and families is to have a holistic approach which considers emotional, psychological, physical, biological and nutritional needs.
Quick fixes and magic formulas are misleading. Instead I promise to provide you with holistic, evidence-based support which is tailored to your individual family needs.
